Marion Eugene Oliver III, also known as "Pete", born July 27, 1942, in Brady, Texas to Marion E. Oliver, Jr and Clara Lenz Oliver, was taken in to the arms of the Lord on January 12, 2016, at the age of 73. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Universal City most of his life where he raised his family. Pete graduated from Schertz-Cibolo High School in 1960. He was very well liked during his school years and was elected as "Most Popular" his Sophomore year. He was very athletic and lettered in football, baseball, and track. His fondest dream was to become a high school coach but that wasn't to be. His life's path was to be the bread winner and father to his precious family. Part of his dream was fulfilled by coaching his daughters in the youth programs and young women in the San Antonio softball league. He was well known for his loving ways and championship teams. He made many life-long friends and extended family through this, as well as his employment at Central Freight Lines, where he spent 33 years before retiring. He was very proud of the fact that he got an award for 25 years safe driving and spent the last 8 years as a dock foreman for a dedicated crew. Pete was an avid sports fan and loved to keep up with his Dallas Cowboys, UT Longhorns, and the local Steele Knights football team; but more than anything, he loved and supported his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved, loyal dog Candy. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Barron and her husband Carlos, his daughter Penny Alvarado and her husband Rudy, his daughter Perri Alvarado and her husband Tony; sister, Jeanette Albrecht and husband Alfred, niece, Shannan Albrecht; nephews, Allen and Troy Albrecht; his life- long friend, Pat Oliver; grandchildren, Sabrina Carriaga, Ashley Gutierrez, Christopher Alvarado, Casie Alvarado, Clayton Alvarado, Carlie Alvarado and Corbin Alvarado; great-grandchildren, Abriana De Los Santos and Aiden De Los Santos.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM-9:00PM, on January 14, 2016, at Schertz Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 15, 2016, at 10:00AM, at Valdez Cemetary in Zuehl, Texas.
