Marilyn Friesenhahn-Dewinne

January 1, 1937 — July 5, 2020

Marilyn Bertha Friesenhahn-DeWinne entered her eternal rest with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2020, surrounded by family in her new home in Virginia, with her youngest daughter.  She lived a wonderful life in Texas and the short time she lived in Virginia.   She was the government sales manager at the Crowne Plaza in San Antonio for 19 years and served the military and local fire and police.  She ran restaurants in Universal City and San Antonio area in the late 60s and 70s.  She loved gardening, listening to the birds, watching westerns and spending time with family and friends.  Her house was the talk of the town at Christmas (her favorite holiday).  Every room was decorated so beautifully.

She was preceded in death by her father Hugo Friesenhahn, mother Leonie (Reininger) Friesenhahn, sister Helen Anne, brother William Friesenhahn, son-in-law Mike Love, nephew Neil Friesenhahn, and granddaughter Jaqueline Niemietz, and Catherine’s father Rene De Winne Sr.   She is survived by her brother Gerald Friesenhahn and wife Candy, brother Andrew Friesenhahn and wife Joyce, daughter Diane Love, son Mark Purcell, daughter Catherine Carruthers and husband Michael, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.    She will be laid to rest next to her mother and father in Selma, Texas.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, TX.  A Celebration of Life will be held later due to COVID restrictions.
