Maria Guerrero
April 28, 1940 — February 24, 2012
Mrs. Maria Antonia Guerrero, 71 went to be with the Lord and Savior on Friday February 24th at her residence in Stokesdale, North Carolina. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, at Schertz Funeral home, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 12, at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, Texas. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Mrs. Guerrero was born April 28, 1940 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to the late Isidora Rivera Ramos and Ignacio Ramos. She grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico with her family, received her schooling in Mexico and later worked at a Ford dealership where she would meet her husband Guadalupe Guerrero. They were married on October 29, 1966 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and would begin their married lives and family together in Laredo, Texas but would later move to the Schertz area. Maria and her husband lived in the Schertz area for numerous years and were both members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. While living in Texas she enjoyed sharing her faith with her friends and opened up her house for prayer group. She loved talking on the telephone and catching up with family and friends. A native of Texas, Maria moved to North Carolina in 2010. She was a loving sister and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Guerrero and her brother, Federico Ramos. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Juan Guerrero (Melissa) of College Station, TX and their children Tyler Guerrero, Katelyn Guerrero, daughter Celia Doyle (Tim) of Stokesdale, NC and their children Joseph Doyle, Leah Doyle, Jon Doyle and her son Carlos Guerrero (Deana) of Goose Creek, SC and their children Gabriel Guerrero, Marisol Guerrero. Sister, Ma Dominga Villarreal (Pablo) of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, sister Ma Luisa Ramirez (Dionisio) of Houston, Texas. Sister-in Law Simona Montes (Luis) of San Antonio, TX and brother-in- law Jose Guerrero also of San Antonio, TX and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to and wishes to thank all the wonderful care givers Donna Sams, Frohonda Jones, Debbie Garner, and Chris Morris of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. We are grateful for a special family friend who came to be with Celia Doyle and Maria A. Guerrero her last week on this earth, Hortencia Rodriguez of Laredo, Texas.
