Major Ronnie Gene Haxton, USAF (ret.) died May 8, 2014 at 82 years of age. He was born on March 5, 1932 to Jesse and Leoma Elliot Haxton in Coshocton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He served 20 years in the USAF and retired from Randolph Air Force Base as the Para Sailing and Life Support Officer. He also served as a command pilot in the KC135, with 6,000 hours, including 100 missions over Vietnam. After his military retirement, he worked in the Judson ISD as a coach, history and science teacher. His teaching honors included: History Dept. Head Teacher, D.A.R. history teacher of the year, Kitty Hawk Jr/High teacher of the year, Judson School District teacher of the year, and Trinity University Excellence in Teaching Award for the San Antonio Area Schools. He believed that education was of primal importance and the key to a better life. After retiring a second time, he became a volunteer for Watts Elementary School in SCUCISD, helping with field trips, field day, history and science lessons. He was a member of Universal City United Methodist Church where he also served as a youth mentor. He was preceded in death by his wife Rhea Marie Rutter Haxton. He is survived by his son, Steven Craig and wife, JoAnn Haxton, step-grandson John Peacock; daughter, Roni Jean and husband, Tom Conard and grandchildren, Christopher and Stephany; daughter, Kim Marie and husband Gregg Sanders and granddaughters, Brittany, Elise, and Gillian; son, Jason Ross and wife Lori and grandchildren, Ross and Laurel; daughter, Darcy Ann Haxton-Jackson and grandsons, Payton and Cameron; and many nieces and nephews. He has one surviving sister, Maxine Carnahan, of Ohio; three sisters preceded him in death. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00AM at on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Coshocton, Ohio. Additional Memorial Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday June 14, 2014 at the Universal City United Methodist Church on 90 Winn Ave. Universal City, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Universal City United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.
