She grew up in agricultural settings where her father migrated throughout the southcentral region of Texas tending to and overseeing farming operations. She was very energetic and industrious in helping her family on the farms where they lived and worked. She had fond memories of mischievously throwing rotten vegetables at her siblings as they worked in the fields.
At the young age of 19 Lucia met and Married Fernando V. Garcia. They met in Eagle Pass, Texas and later married in Piedras Negras, Coahuila Mexico on April 20th, 1956.
Lucia worked for the Schertz Cibolo Universal City Independent School District as the Head Cook for the entire district when meals were prepared for students from scratch. She retired from the school district after serving students for 20 exceptional years.
