Lt.Col.Glenn Whitfield, Jr.
March 16, 1937 — February 17, 2012
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Glenn Theodore Whitfield went to be with the Lord 17 February 2012 at the age of 74 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Florence Whitfield and two sisters, Christina and Lillian of Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Whitfield of 53 years, sons, Glenn T. Whitfied, III and wife, Sonja of Heyburn ID, Keith E. Whitfield and wife, Linda of Durham, NC, Darryl L. Whitfield and wife Crystal of San Antonio, Texas and daughter Deidra L. Whitfield of San Antonio Texas; 7 grandchildren, Theodore of Idaho, Octavia and Glenn of Texas, Nicole and Delancy of MA, Coren of PA, Elan of MN and Dorian of TX and 4 great-grandchildren to include Kaylee and MA, Bryce and Braden of Texas and Alan of PA and a host of friends. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years and retired in 1985 as a Lt. Colonel. He worked at Hallmark Institute as the Director of the Electronics Department for two years after retiring. Glenn was an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church for over 20 years where he served as President of the congregation and head usher, delivered meals on wheels and worked on several committees. He enjoyed model trains. Visitation will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 13888 Dreamwood Drive, San Antonio, Texas on 28 February 2012 from 9:30am to 11:00am followed by funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenns name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
