Lt. Harris

Lt. Col. (Ret) Michael H. Harris, born December 23, 1942, in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed on February 18, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 73. Mike, as he was referred to by his loved ones, moved to Petersburg, Indiana with his family in 1955, where he graduated high school in 1960. He went on to the University of Evansville, in Evansville, Indiana where he graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and having completed the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Program, he was also commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Harris entered active duty on July 31, 1964 and spent the next 25 years in various commands, executive support and administrative positions. He retired from the Air Force on August 1, 1989, as a Lieutenant Colonel at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. On January 15, 1990, Mike was appointed President of the San Antonio Manufacturers Association. As the President, he oversaw the daily operations of the association. After 20 years, he retired on June 22, 2010.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy Harris and his infant son, Jeffrey Scott. Throughout his life he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; daughter, Michelle Harkins and husband, Sean; son Mark Harris and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Elyssa, Harkins, Emily Harkins, Evan Harkins, Dylan Harris and Ryder Harris.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11:30AM Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (OLPH) at 16075 N. Evans Rd., Selma, Texas 78154. The interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 3:00PM.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OLPH St. Vincent De Paul Society, or OLPH Building Fund, in honor of Mike Harris at 16075 N. Evans Rd., Selma, TX 78154.
