Seguin

Lourdes Cadapan Salas, aged 78, was called home to God on 08/22/2024 after her taxing battle with breast cancer. Lourdes was born in the Philippines to Felix Cadabis Cadapan and Agapita Farrales Cadapan where she grew up with her 5 siblings. She leaves behind her surviving siblings: Cesar (Lina) Cadapan, Wilfredo (Susan) Cadapan, Revelin (Virgilio) Caba, and Alex (Maria Lina) Cadapan. She joins her Manang, Edith (Aristeo) Angeles.

She would fondly tell stories of growing up in the Philippines, recalling how they didn’t have much but made the most of what they did. As a little girl she loved going to her uncle’s house to pick vegetables and liked to play with the small hermit crabs. Lourdes lived a life of devotion to her family. She often reminisced about going to college and sharing a place with her brother (Cesar). She took pride in how she helped her brother type out his application to join the U.S. Navy and was over joyed when he was accepted because he would later petition for the entire family to become U.S. citizens.

Lourdes later graduated from the University of the East, Manila as a midwife and was offered an opportunity to work abroad in Germany. She was so scared to leave home and knew she would miss it so much. She once again put her family first and decided to accept it so that she could send money home to help everyone. As time passed, Lourdes changed careers and later served the Department of the Navy as a civilian employee retiring after 20 years of federal service.

While in Germany, she met, fell in love with and married David. For 42 years, they loved to dance, sing, and fiesta with family and friends. They had three kids, of which she loved with her entire being. She was a kind, sweet mom but was not afraid to use her slipper or anything in her reach if any of them needed it. The love Lourdes had for her family showed in her actions. It was evident in every decision she made in her lifetime. She always prioritized God, others, then herself. Her greatest joy, was when she was promoted to “Grandma” or more lovingly known as “Nana.” Lourdes’ unconditional love for her family and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.

Lourdes reunites with her love (Asugua) David Mendiola Salas. She is survived by her children Bernadette (Christopher) Stroklund, Raymond Salas, and Daisy (Brandon) Williamson; eight grandchildren Donovan Raymond Salas (23), Jasmyn Bridget Salas (17), Ayva Elizabeth Stroklund (15), Cayden Christopher Stroklund (14), Bryson Salas Williamson (12), Alanah Maria Salas Stroklund (11), Alysah Lourdes Salas Stroklund (7) and Kai Salas Williamson (7).
