Lourdes Marrero

December 18, 1943 — December 16, 2014

Cookie passed away peacefully on the morning of December 16, 2014 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was a loving mother who always put her family first. She and her husband, Dr. Gualberto "Gually " Marrero, set a wonderful example of what "family" means for their children Veronica & Jerry Myers, Alba & Gorm Johannessen, Luisa P. Marrero, and MAJ Gualberto "Tato" & Tonya Marrero III. Because of their example, Cookie was also blessed with 6 beautiful grandchildren: Nydia, Jacob, Alexis, Raven, Erik, and Ethan. Cookie is survived by her sister Alba Eber and her husband Ken, her sisters-in-law Celia Marrero and Petrona Pruitt and her husband Stanley, and her nieces Marisa Bibens, Erika Carson, and Alicia Willeford and her husband JD. Cookie is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Gually, and her parents, Jacinto and Luisa Rivera. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Schertz Funeral Home.
