Lonie Williams, Jr

CMSgt. Lonie C. Williams, Jr.USAF, ret., passed away unexpectedly on 9 June 2009 at the age of 71. He was born in Nashville, TN on 15 August 1937, to Lonie C. Williams, Sr., and Elizabeth Bush Williams. They moved to San Antonio when Lonie was only two or three years old. Lonie is survived by his wife Mary (Kaye) Walter Williams; son Michael C. Williams and his wife Diana from Highlands Ranch, CO; son Lonie C. Williams III working in Abu Dhabi, UAE; Grandson Jordan Williams from Waco, TX; sister Brooke Soules and husband Sonny from Lake Fork and their children; sister Nancy Stahl and husband Billy from Dallas, TX and their children, along with many other relatives and friends. Lonie graduated from Edison High in San Antonio and also the Community College of the Air Force. He served our country in the Air Force from 1955 to late 1984, serving in many stateside bases, as well as overseas in Iwo Jima, the Philippines 3 times, Thailand, Turkey, Germany and Vietnam twice. After retirement from the AF he worked civil service and retired again after 17 more years of service to his country. Services are as follows: Monday, 15 June, visitation at 5:30 pm, rosary at 7 pm at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, TX. Tuesday 16 June, funeral at Chapel 1 on Randolph AFB at 1245 officiated by Fr. Dan Majerus, followed by interment with full military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Lonie was a true American Patriot; he flew the flag daily, bought from American owned companies whenever possible, spent his money in America rather than in foreign lands. He stood for the truth, integrity beyond the norm. Love of God, family and country were what he stood for. He will be missed every day until we are no more. Just remember Lonie, I love you Bigger!
