Lois Jean Aguirre

October 31, 1944 — February 8, 2025

San Antonio, Texas

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lois Jean Aguirre (born Guerra), who went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 8, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, and throughout her 80 years, she lived a life full of love, beauty, and unwavering faith.

Lois was a woman who radiated warmth, kindness, and grace. She loved her family deeply and was the heart of every gathering, always making sure those around her felt loved and cherished. Her love was evident in everything she did—from the beautiful quilts she sewed with care, to the countless cups of tea she shared with family and friends, listening with an open heart and offering gentle “kitchen” wisdom. She had a rare gift for making everyone feel at home in her presence, and her friendships were treasured and lifelong.

A proud San Antonian, Lois attended San Antonio College and later built a respected career at UTSA, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching. She was admired by her colleagues and made lasting friendships during her years there, leaving an impact that extended far beyond her professional role.

Lois, lovingly known as Gina by those closest to her, found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her loving children, each of whom carried a special place in her heart: Michael Alan Aguirre and Keith Daniel Aguirre, her devoted sons, who honored and respected their mother’s strength, wisdom, and boundless love. They were a source of pride and joy to her, and she treasured the men they became. Nicole Desiree Walchek and Gabrielle Estelle Bryant, her beloved daughters, who shared an especially deep and unbreakable bond with her. Nicole brought endless joy to her mother’s life, always standing by her with love and affection. Gabrielle, with her warm and generous heart, was a reflection of Lois’s own kindness and grace, a daughter who filled her mother’s life with love and pride. Michael Ruben Rosas, her youngest grandson, who carried a special place in her heart, bringing love and laughter to her life and will remain “her sunshine, her only sunshine” forever.

Their spouses, Leigh Ann Aguirre (wife of Michael Alan), Jennifer Aguirre (wife of Keith Daniel), Paul Bryant (husband of Gabrielle).

Her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Aguirre, Haley Thompson (husband Elliot Thompson), Lexi Aguirre, Mason Aguirre, Meredith Aguirre, Madeline Aguirre, and Michael Ruben Rosas (partner Erandi Magaña).

Her greatest blessings in her final years, her beautiful great-granddaughters, Avery Thompson and Solana Rosas.

Lois was married for 42 years to her now ex-husband, Daniel Aguirre who survives her. Though their paths diverged, their shared years built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Lois is preceded in death by her father Aristeo Guerra, her mother Lois Guerra, her brothers Fred “Juni” (aka Miguel Diaz Leal) Guerra, Gilbert Guerra, Nick Guerra, Sonny Guerra, Charles Guerra.

Her passing leaves an unfillable void. The lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her will never be the same on this side of eternity. She was a guiding light, a source of comfort, and the embodiment of love and faith. While we mourn her loss, we take solace in knowing she has been welcomed into eternal peace, embraced by the love of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her legacy of faith, love, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held on March 1, 2025 at 5:30pm at Schertz Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to honor the incredible woman she was and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind in all her children and grandchildren.

Lois’s love remains stitched into the fabric of our hearts—like the quilts she so lovingly made, her warmth will wrap around us forever. Until we meet again, Mom. We miss you beyond words.
