Lionel Johnson

Lionel Johnson was born December 3, 1939 in New Orleans, LA to Louise Johnson. He was raised by Algis Butler and Louise Butler. Brother Johnson received the Lord as his personal savior in 1985 and was baptized by Pastor Wilker Neal of Nineveh Baptist Church of Kenner LA.

Lionel attended Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. In 1969 Lionel was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam.

He married the love of his life Geraldine Johnson. They travel the world together while Lionel served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably retired in 1983. They returned to Kenner, LA where he worked for Sam’s Club for 18 years until he retired.

In 2010 Lionel and Geraldine moved to San Antonio, TX. They immediately joined Covenant Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Earl Grant, Sr. Lionel served out the rest of his life as a member of the loving Covenant Community Church family.

Lionel is proceeded in death by his parents, two sisters and one nephew. He leaves to celebrate his life; his loving wife Geraldine Johnson, two stepsons Brian Williams (Joann), Dwyane Williams (Natasha); nephew Michael Watkins (Audrey); nieces Linda Walker, Brenda Wells, Glenda Bennet (Alex) and a host of family and friends.
