Linda Fletcher

November 22, 1940 — June 27, 2009

Linda Lee King Fletcher, born November 22, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to David Emery King and Anna Mae DeVille King, went to be with her Lord June 27, 2009. Shortly after losing the love of her life, Charlie, Linda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She fought a 5-year long, hard battle and persevered as long as her heart would allow. During her illness, Linda never gave up and said many times, I'm going to beat this thing! She did beat the odds as stated by her oncologist. It was evident that Linda was a fighter and a survivor. At the age of 13, Linda battled two strains of polio which she triumphed over. After recovering, she was active in organizing and raising funds to help support some of the local health related charities. Through her eyes and smile, everyone could see the joy and love she had for her family and friends. She gave of herself to many who knew her. Unfortunately, our beloved Linda was taken too soon. However, on Saturday morning, June 27, 2009 when asked the question, Are you ready to go see Charlie? she nodded her head yes. Then quickly, she left this world in the loving arms of her niece, Kelly, and was carried right into the arms of Jesus! Her departure was a peaceful one and now she is forever at peace with the Lord. We all loved her and will miss her, but she will live in our hearts always. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alfred Fletcher. She is survived by her sister, Pattie King Lachle; daughter Linda Ann Palmer; two step-daughters; Margaret (Peggy) Fletcher Stirling, husband Ron (children Aaron and Jason) and Kay Fletcher-Brown (children Alexis and Jade); son Jason Edward Palmer and wife Pam (children Madison and McKenzie); sister-in-laws Patricia Fletcher Fulton, Marjorie Fletcher Plante' and spouse John Paul, and Francis Fletcher Smith; brother-in-law Franklin Fletcher and Linda Hardin; nieces and nephews and their families Kelly Fletcher Brown and husband David (children Desiree and Bethany), Shelly Fletcher Talamantez (children Christene, Bryan, Justin and wife Liz, Jacob and Jeremy), Dana Fletcher Breiten and husband Ervin (children Brandon and Joshua), Cheryl Hannon and husband Sean (son Cory), Shannon Lachle Bazo and husband Robbie (children Taylor and Logan), Susie Lachle Boniol and husband Scott (children Lachle Elizabeth, Emery and Miles), Joe Lachle Jr. and wife Nancy (children Nicole Lachle Gardner and husband Brian) and numerous great nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home located at 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX; Tuesday, June 30 from 6-8pm. A grave side service will be held Wednesday, July 1 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery beginning at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Linda L.
