Leon Scrutchin

January 13, 1938 — January 25, 2010

Leon D. Scrutchin, age 72 of San Antonio, went to be with his Lord on January 25, 2010. He was born to Douglas and Eunice (Dietert) Scrutchin on January 13, 1938 in Staples, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Scrutchin, paternal grandparents, W.A. & Addie Scrutchin and maternal grandparents, Oscar & Lyda Vineyard. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Randall Scrutchin of San Antonio, Texas; his mother; Eunice Vineyard Scrutchin; daughter, Kelly Crain & husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Travis, Averi, Colton and Haden; numerous nieces, nephews, additional relatives and dear friends. Leon was a member of The Country Church in Marion. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Midway as a Communications Specialist. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 29 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hill Country Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include: Dr. George Hill, Jody Urquhart, Jeff Campbell, Jim Vick, Jeremy Meglasson & Doug Currier. Memorial Donations may be made to: The Country Church Building Fund.
