Leon Gardner

Leon Leroy Gardner, 59, of Schertz, Texas, passed away January 3, 2014, at Silver Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Leon was born November 1, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Lemar Gardner and Elizabeth Betty Carter Gardner. He attended Shaker Heights High School, in Shaker Heights, OH. Leon lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Anchorage, Alaska; and Idaho Falls, Idaho. He moved to Schertz, Texas in June 2013 to be near family and friends. On September 4, 1981, he married Thomie Lee Fleming, in Anchorage, Alaska. Together they raised two children. He enjoyed racing remote control cars, participating in sports, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Thomie Gardner of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tanya Baldwin of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Leon Gardner Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; grandson, DeAndre Griffin; mother, Elizabeth Betty Howell of Schertz, TX; brother, Lemar Gardner of Converse, TX; sister, LaDonna Foster of Cibolo, TX; sister, Jackie Lyn Gardner McCoy of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Lemar Gardner Sr. and his brother, Larry Gardner. A gathering for family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Jones residence, 225 Hereford Street, Cibolo, TX 78108.
