Laura Billig

July 18, 1913 — April 17, 2012

Bert passed away quietly in the morning of 17 April, 2012 in San Antonio. She was 98 years old. Born on 18 July, 1913 in Anaconda, Montana, she was the middle sibling of six children born to Albert and Laura Martin. She grew up mostly in San Francisco where she attended Galileo High School and married August Billig on 8 February, 1935. They lived California, Hawaii, Japan, and Alaska while he was in the Navy, and she witnessed the Pearl Harbor attack on 7 December, 1941. Bert was a WWII veteran, joining the Coast Guard in 1944 and serving until the end of the war. After retiring from the Navy, she and her husband lived in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Her husband passed away in 1985, and she moved to South Texas in 1999. She is survived by her son, Bruce Billig (Carol) of San Antonio and two grand-daughters Kim Pintirsch (Jason) of San Antonio and Ashley Billig of Corpus Christi. Memorial services were held in Schertz, Texas, with a private inurnment in Southern Oregon at a later date
