Larry Metzger

Larry Wayne Albert Metzger, an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend, was born on June 9, 1945 and passed away on March 18, 2020 at the age of 74. He was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Lawrence Felix Metzger and Edna Olga Grobe. He graduated from St Mary’s Catholic High School in 1963. Soon after, Larry joined the Army Reserves in the prestigious John Connally Contingent. Larry’s work life included Swearingen Aircraft from 1966. Then he would work for Stainless Ice Tainer Corporation (Sitco) around 1970. He started his own remodeling and home repair business, LTL Builders, in 1985.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Edna Metzger. Larry married the love of his life, Lillian Froboese, on September 17, 1976. They lived in the Garden Ridge area of San Antonio since 1986. Larry is survived by his wife, Lil Metzger from Garden Ridge area, San Antonio; his sister Sheryl Rose Burdell and husband James from Austin; sister in law Doris Stacy and husband Jack from Spring; brother in law, Norman Froboese and wife Sharon, from Seguin, sister in law Charlene Andre and husband Keith, from San Antonio, and his three sons: Trent Metzger, married to Debbie from Atascosa, Brandt Metzger with Renee Heins from Schertz, and Timothy Metzger married to Laurie from Garden Ridge area, San Antonio. His grandchildren are: Tray Metzger & wife Amanda & family, Mysti Metzger, Bryce Metzger, Riley Metzger, to include numerous step grand and great grandchildren. There are numerous nieces and nephews. Larry loved, loved his grandchildren.
In retirement he fished and golfed whenever an opportunity presented itself. He and Lil traveled to many bucket list places. Larry was a long time member of the Bracken/Garden Ridge Lions Club and an active member of Grace Church in New Braunfels.
The Celebration of Life to honor Larry Metzger is to be August 8, 2020 at Grace Church, 3240 FM 725, New Braunfels, Texas.
Memorials in his honor are requested for Grace Church.
