Kent Palma, our beloved gentle giant, has left this world, but not without leaving behind an unforgettable mark on all who knew him. He was as big in heart as he was in stature. Known for his quick wit and deep sincerity, he had a way of making everyone around him feel seen, even when he was grumbling about something minor.
His love for people was boundless. He had a knack for being hilariously blunt, but somehow always exactly what you needed to hear. Whether it was a dry one-liner or a bit of wisdom he’d collected over the years, his words had weight—sometimes because they made you laugh and sometimes because they made you pause and reflect.
With a passion for knowledge and a curiosity about the world, he was always learning, always questioning, and always willing to share what he knew. And yet, for all his wisdom, he never took himself too seriously. He found joy in the simple things: a good conversation, a hearty laugh, and perhaps a well-earned complaint about something trivial just to keep us on our toes.
Above all, Kent cared deeply. Though he wore his gruff exterior with pride, his heart was wide open. He gave without asking for anything in return, loved without condition, and left behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and deep, enduring wisdom.
Rest well, Kent. Your big heart, quick wit, and endearing curmudgeon-ness will be with us always.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to the Alamo in Kent’s name. It was his home away from home and he loved sharing his passion and knowledge with visitors from around the globe.
