Kenneth Louis Wake, Sr.

December 28, 1935 — December 23, 2024

San Antonio

Kenneth Louis Wake, Sr., a man of joy, love and unwavering loyalty, peacefully departed this world on December 23, 2024, at the age of 88. He passed at his home in San Antonio, surrounded by the warmth and devotion of his family, embodying a life well-lived and a presence that will be deeply missed.

Kenneth was the second of seven children born to Berl and Rose Wake, whose love and guidance instilled in him the values that would shape his character and the familial legacy he accomplished. Raised in a lively household alongside his six siblings, grandfather and uncle, Kenneth’s early life was enriched by the family bonds in San Antonio, a city that he held close to his heart and called home throughout his remarkable life journey.

Kenneth loved his country and felt the need to serve so at age 18 he decided to join the Army National Guard of Texas. He served for nine years. In 1955 Kenneth met his beloved Barbara Adcock at a drive-in theater. This chance encounter blossomed into a lifelong partnership characterized by mutual respect and dedication that was evident to all who knew them. Married in July of 1957, their marriage was a nurturing environment for their children-Michelle, Bud, Tim and Crissy-instilling in them the same values of love, commitment and perseverance. They were married for over 67 years.

A devoted family man, Kenneth’s legacy extends through his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each blessed by his playfulness and unconditional love. Kenneth's family was his pride and joy.

Kenneth embraced his life through the many adventures and hobbies he enjoyed. Summers were filled with boating, water skiing, and family camping vacations creating memories to last a lifetime. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid Judson Rockets fan. He loved going to football games. Winter snow skiing trips were also a family favorite. His love of traveling and cruising expanded his horizons bringing him much joy as he shared these adventures with Barbara and other family members. Kenneth became the family videographer and photographer. He was easy to spot with his camera around his neck as he could always be found at family gatherings snapping pictures and capturing family memories.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Kenneth treasured his ever-present smile and his sweet personality which left a lasting impression on all those who crossed his path in life. With his sly sense of humor, Kenneth was quick-witted and brought laughter to us all.

Kenneth’s passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of his family, but also an overwhelming sense of gratitude. His influence will endure through his family that will carry forward his legacy. He will be remembered fondly for the genuine warmth of spirit and the countless joyful memories he leaves behind. Those of you that knew “Daddy Ken” aka “Bubby”, know that he shared a special bond with his beloved granddaughter, Victoria, and it brings us profound peace and comfort to imagine them joyfully reunited again.
