Kenneth Ferguson
May 6, 1940 — April 22, 2015
Kenneth Dale "Ken" Ferguson passed from life, through death, to eternal life on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the age of 74. He was born to Bill and Edith Ferguson on May 6, 1940, in Gainesville, TX. Ken spent his childhood years in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School. He worked in the truck leasing business which brought him from Dallas to San Antonio in 1968. Ken married his wife Lydia on August 21, 1972. In 1973, he made a career change to the tire industry where he spent his working days until his retirement in 2012. Ken and Lydia were longtime residents of San Antonio. Together they enjoyed nights at the Bowling Club where they were league bowlers and the occasional evening out dancing. In his spare time Ken enjoyed spending hours in his workshop making wood crafts that were always in demand due to his extraordinary talents and love for woodworking. Although he dedicated most of his time and energy to his career, he often attended his grandchildren's baseball games and other activities. Mr. F, as many referred to him, enjoyed car racing and could often be found relaxing in front of the television watching a Nascar race. Ken was preceded in death by his father, Bill Anderson Ferguson, mother, Edith Shroff and step-father, Russel Shroff. He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Lydia Ferguson; three daughters: Kelley Hanks of Murphy, Jan DiLiberto of Arlington, and Cindy Caulfield of Cibolo, and three sons: Kenny Ferguson of Richardson, Mike Ferguson of Plano, and Cary Hartline of Greenville, SC, along with twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ken is also survived by two brothers: Bill Ferguson of Tulsa, OK, Ron Ferguson of Spring Dale, AR and two sisters: Karamae Campbell of Harrison, MO and Michelle Shuffield of Mayflower, AR. In honor of Kenneth Dale Ferguson, the family will be holding a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 12pm at the Schertz Funeral Home. The family will be available to receive guest at 11am. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of life at the Cibolo Bowling Club.
