Kennard “Ken” Marshall
November 21, 1953 - March 26, 2025
Kennard “Ken” Marshall, of Marion, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the age of 71, with his loving wife, Nancy, by his side after a brief illness.
Ken was born on November 21, 1953, in Muses Mill, Kentucky, to Felbert Marion Marshall and EmmaLeen Marshall, both of whom preceded him in death.
Ken spent his childhood on his grandparents’ farm in Kentucky and graduated from Fleming County High School. In 1975, he joined the United States Army, proudly serving his country for 20 years. During his military career, he received numerous decorations, medals, badges, and campaign ribbons before retiring with an honorable discharge in San Antonio, Texas.
Following his military service, Ken co-owned Kennan Enterprises with his wife, Nancy, where they ran a successful wholesale bait business and an auto/small engine repair business. With an extraordinary ability to fix, repair, or restore anything with a motor, Ken became a certified master mechanic. He worked for over 20 years as the Shop Foreman at Texstar Enterprises, Inc. in Selma, Texas, overseeing the maintenance and operations of heavy equipment and vehicles. Ken was skilled in welding, woodworking, automobile painting, home renovations, and furniture refinishing. His passion for working with his hands was a hallmark of his life, and when asked how he managed to fix things that others couldn’t, he would simply reply with a smile, “Hillbilly Magic.”
Ken had a wide range of hobbies, including gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking, and crafting his own special brand of Hillbilly beverages. A dedicated NASCAR fan, he had a particular fondness for GM products and often teased his sons-in-law about their choice to drive Fords.
Ken is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Marshall, and his three daughters: Tammy (Robbie) Carpenter, Kimberly (Terry) Lovett, and Sasha (Matthew) Willard. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Corrinne (Buddy) Petty, as well as his grandchildren: Kaylee, Sydney, and Alyvia Carpenter, Eden and Isaac Willard, Lauren Marshall, Kamryn Lovett, Samantha Moore, and Caleb Petty. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Noah Alexander, Ryleigh, and Callie O’Brian.
