Kathlyn (Katie) Henrietta Schertz Moos peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 14, 2018 at the age of 98 in Schertz, TX where she was born on June 16, 1919. She attended Schertz School until the 10th grade, then completed grade 11 at Alamo Heights. Her family owned and ran the cotton gin in Schertz. She married Arnold V. Moos on December 24, 1938. In 1946, she and Arnold began Acme Butane at the corner of Nacogdoches and 410 selling butane tanks and water heaters. In 1970, they moved the business to IH35 and renamed the business Arnold Moos Company. They resided for most of their lives in Garden Ridge area near Schertz and later moved back to Schertz.
She is preceded in death by her parents Clara Hoffmann Schertz and Robert Gustav Schertz; her husband Arnold Valtine Moos; her sisters Edna Sowell and Lorna Dawson; her grandson Preston Moos and step-granddaughter Brooke Alexander Sandoval. She is survived by her son Arnold Alfred (Fred) Moos and wife Angeline Scheel Moos of Garden Ridge; and grandchildren: Steve Moos, wife Brenda and sons Kyle and Cory of Garden Ridge; Jim Moos, wife Christine and daughter Madison of Marion and son Sheldon of Oklahoma City; and Janalyn Moos Alexander, husband Rick and son Braxton of Canyon Lake; and many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Katie (Omie by her grandchildren) will be remembered for her tremendous love for her family, service to others through Hospice, Red Cross, her church; her many travels around the world with family and friends; members of Saint Ann's Society over 60 years and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Selma; her unwavering faith in the Lord, and living each day with gratitude and grace.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Legacy at Forest Ridge Assisted Living in Schertz, New Braunfels Hope Hospice (Marissa and Christina), the love of her extended family and friends, and ultimately, the salvation provided by our Lord, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Ann's Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma and New Braunfels Hope Hospice. Viewing will be at Schertz Funeral Home on January 21st, from 5-8, with a Rosary at 7:00. Funeral Mass will be at OLPH in Selma on January 22nd, at 1:00 and interment following at Selma Cemetery #2.
