Kathleen Lianza

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Lianza, lovingly known to many as “Chatty Kathy”, who left us on November 5, 2024, at the age of 88. Kathleen was born on June 24, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and service.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her two beloved daughters, Shari and Debbie, her son Donnie, and her siblings and parents. She is survived by her son, Joe Smith, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy throughout her life.

Kathleen was a dedicated court stenographer for many years, a profession she took great pride in. In her later years, she became an avid watcher of court TV, enjoying the drama while spending hours assembling puzzles and sipping on coffee. She was also a passionate cook, known for spending 12 hours preparing every Thanksgiving dish from scratch. Her “Italian stuffing” was a holiday tradition that took up much of her day, but it was always worth the effort. Kathleen’s love for her family was endless, and she most cherished the moments spent in conversation with loved ones. She made it her mission to stay informed and keep everyone around her up to date with all the latest happenings.

Kathleen was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she was never more content than when they were near. A loving and kind grandmother, her home was always filled with smiles when her family gathered. Kathleen’s friendly, and at times, spicy demeanor will forever be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.

Kathleen will be laid to rest in a service at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, TX, on Monday the 16th, beginning at 10 AM and concluding with her internment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Kathleen’s legacy of love, warmth, and determination will live on in her family’s hearts. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
