Kathleen Crain

August 12, 1933 — April 17, 2013

Kathleen Crain, born August 12, 1933, in Cortez, Colorado, was peacefully called home to the Lord, Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at her home in Schertz, at the age of 79. She was an angel on earth, always thinking of others before herself and a strong Christian believer, cheerfully setting an example to all who knew her. Identical twins, Kathleen and Irene Breland, came to Texas as infants with their parents and lived in Ganado and Galveston until after World War II, when they moved to San Marcos. After high school graduation in 1950, she worked at Gary Air Base where she met and married Cleatis Crain, an Army pilot, training there in 1955. Kathleen loved to travel and they traveled a lot with the military, adding three children, Celeste, Carla, and Michael, in three years. The family was stationed in Germany and France, as well as Nebraska, New Mexico, Alabama, and Texas. The family settled in Universal City when Cleatis retired from the Army in 1970. Kathleen had been a military officers wife and stay-at-home mom until the children started high school. Then she dabbled in real estate sales and then went to work for the Department of Defense as a Contract Specialist at Randolph Air Force Base. She worked there twenty years, retiring in 1997. She was a charter member of Rolling Oaks Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and later a member of St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo. Kathleen is preceded in death by husband, Cleatis Crain, and her parents and stepparents, Mary Jane and Arthur Capobianco, and Roger and Lorene Breland, and nephew Kirk Moeller. Kathleen is survived by her twin sister, Irene Wade; brother, Kenneth Breland and children, Celeste Tucker, Carla Lee and Cleatis Michael Crain, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Pall bearers are Kathleens grandsons and nephews, Clayton Adams, Travis Ponder, Brayton Lee, Larry LaMunyon, Billy Moeller and Wesley Moeller.. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Evangelical Church, Cibolo, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Schertz Funeral Home from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral Service will be Monday, April 22, 2013 at Schertz Funeral Home at 11:30AM with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
