Karla Martz
May 28, 1958 — May 20, 2015
Karla Porter Martz was born on May 28, 1958, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late parents of Howard Porter and Jinney Atwell Porter. She was the youngest of eight children who grew up in Huntington, West Virginia. She departed this world early the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2015. She and her husband, Herman Martz were united in holy matrimony on July 25, 1981. They moved many times over the years, but settled in San Antonio, in 2008; and Selma, Texas, in 2009. There were no children born to this union; however, Karla had two children by a previous marriage, of whom, both preceded her in death. Her son, Joe Sexton died in 1976, after living only a few days. Her daughter, Tammy Sexton Martz, was adopted by Herman and passed away at age fifteen, in 1995. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Timothy. She is survived by her beloved and loving husband, Herman Nelson Martz; two sisters, Theresa Birsack, and Sandy Porter; two brothers, Howard and Larry Porter; four step-children, Teana Martz, Sharon Stafford, Terri Cockrell, and Don Martz. Karla also had two brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Phillip Martz; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Petree, and Jean ann Hatsenbuehler. She had two step-brothers-in-laws, Fred and Wesley Patterson; and one step-sister-in-law, Martha Romanawski. Karla was conscience of her spiritual need. (Matthew 5:3, 5) She was studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses; and was contemplating baptism, as she had finished the two required publications. She was hoping to join the Theocratic Ministry School, and was planning to go out into the Field Ministry to help others learn about God's Kingdom. When the "New World" comes, she will be resurrected along with the many billions who are now sleeping in death, and are I Jehovah's memory. (John 5:28-29, and Acts 24:15) Jesus Christ is King of that Kingdom which is now established in the heavens, but will soon be ruling here on earth. (Matthew 6:9-10) Karla was noted for her warm smile, positive attitude, and beautiful thick, bouncy hair. She was known as a "hard worker" and a loyal employee by all those who knew her at HEB. Karla Will truly be missed by her family, friends, coworkers, and her Bible teachers, Annie Galloway and Patricia Reddish, as well as all of Jehovah's Witnesses who knew her, and sat in on her weekly studies. We look forward to seeing her again when our "last enemy, death , is to be brought to nothing" (1 Corinthians 15:26) Thank you, one and all for your prayers, cards, gifts, flowers, and whatever else you may have done. We appreciate each and every one of you.
