Judy Butz

Judy Ann (Mayer) Butz , 69, of St. Hedwig, passed away very peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2019. She was born September 19, 1949 in Converse to Fridoline and Julitta Mayer. She attended Clemens School in Zuehl, graduated from Marion High School, and received her AA degree from San Antonio Junior College. On May 1, 1982, she married Marshall Butz at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Converse.  They were blessed with their only son Trent, on May 9, 1988. Judy worked as a Paralegal Secretary for a number of years.   In 1995, she joined her husband in their family business, J M Butz Land Surveying. She was a member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, and a former CCD teacher.  She enjoyed singing, dancing, bowling (she was a life member at Bexar Bowling Society), water skiing and snow skiing.  She treasured her time with family, especially playing with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Marshall Butz; son Trent Butz and wife Hannah; grandchildren Caleb, Brielle, and Jaxon; sisters Marcella Hudson, Janice Novosad and husband Basil; brother Claude Mayer and wife Joannie; sister-in-law Kit Smart and husband Andrew; godmother Aunt Frances Mayer and loving Aunt Lillian Blaschke; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother in- law James Marshall Butz, Sr. and Clara Sue; and her grandparents Ernest and Christine Mayer and Ottmar and Ida Wenzel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 29, 2019, at 10:00 AM, at the Annunciation Church in St. Hedwig. Vocalists will be Judy’s cousins, the Gleitz sisters.  Readers will be Judy’s sisters Marcella and Janice.  Presentation of the gifts will be by Judy’s brother Claude and Joannie.

Pall bearers:  Neil Novosad, Andrew Smart, Scott White, John Mayer, Clark Linton, and Richard Thornton.
