Judy Carolyn Brooks, born on September 23, 1941, passed away on December 2, 2019, at the age of 78. She was born to the late Horace Earl and Gussie Mae Ralston on September 23, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas. Judy was an art major in college and shared her talents at every opportunity. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was especially fond of playing with her “little man” Gauge and her “sweet doll” Ryan. She spent many years as a military wife living as far away as Okinawa, Germany, and Greece. Judy worked a variety of jobs, but she was most proud of her time working for civil service and managing hotels for La Quinta. Judy’s infectious smile and goofy sense of humor will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald D. Brooks; and by her four brothers, Floyd Douglas, Walter Earl, David Luther, and Gregory Meredith Ralston. Judy is survived by sons, Walter (Yvonne), Jeffrey (Tammy) Taylor, Gerald Brooks Jr. (Meghan); daughter, Sheree Taylor Courney; 11 grandchildren, Ashley (BJ) Sassani, Brittany (Robert) Gruba, Kaitlin Taylor, Charles “Charlie” Taylor, Taylor Courney, Amber (Shannon) Kingery, Ana Gibson, Lucas Brooks, Logan Brooks, Lincoln Brooks, Lewis Brooks, 5 great- grandchildren, Sean Kingery, Zachary Murray, Gauge Ranson, Ryan Ranson, and Taylor Gruba; sisters- in- law, Jean (David) Ralston and , Jane (Greg) Ralston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at 9:00-10:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00AM also at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1:00PM at Cook-Walden/ Forest Oaks Memorial Park in Austin, Texas.
