Joseph Anthony (Tony) Rivas, 79, of Schertz, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2022. Tony was born June 6, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas to Eddie and Bertha Rivas.
Tony went to Highlands High School. He loved football and was an all-state basketball player. Tony married Natalie Hardin on February 24, 1962. They were married for 60 years. Tony loved football especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid golfer and loved bowling.
He drove a bus for Greyhound for 39 years, prior to Greyhound he worked for Knowltons Creamery delivering milk to homes for 11 years.
Tony is survived by his wife Natalie Rivas, his daughters Julie Workman (Kip), Jennifer Dimando (Matt), his grandchildren Kris Workman (Colbey), Kyle Workman (Morgan), Lauren McIver (Andrew), Leighton Dimando and great grandchildren Eevee Workman, Auburn Grace McIver, August McIver, his sister Cindy Barrera and several nieces and nephews.
Tony loved people and had a gift for joking and making people feel special. He especially loved his grandchildren and loved being able to be at their games and activities. He loved dogs and always wanted to bring them home. As a child, he always seemed to have a dog follow him home from school and he would tell his mom that the dog just followed him home. He especially loved his lab, Joy.

The Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00 - 9:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held the following day on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. There will be a procession to the Graveside Service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery following the funeral service.
There will be a Reception held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 following the Graveside Service.
