Joseph Anthony Guastella, born February 20, 1949 in Meriden, Connecticut, passed away on November 3, 2017 at SAMMC, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 68. He was raised in New York by his loving parents Lenny and Grace Zamiello. He had two brothers Anthony and Gerald Guastella. Joseph is a Vietnam War Veteran and retired SMSGT from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. He was a proud and loving father to his four children Joseph Guastella Jr, Tracy Tsuchiyama, Christopher Guastella, and Sarah Guastella. His daughter in laws Natalie Guastella and Jen Guastella and son in law Dino Tsuchiyama. He had 7 grandchildren Joseph Guastella III, Ronnie Tsuchiyama, Ellis Guastella, Nathaniel Tsuchiyama, Mary Tsuchiyama, Rocco Guastella, and Riley Guastella. He also loved his three dogs Pistol, Buddy, and Gus. Joseph was a proud and patriotic military veteran with great values. His military service influenced his sons Joseph Jr (Army veteran), son Christopher (Air Force veteran), and grandson Joseph III (Army active duty) to follow in his footsteps to serve this great country. Joseph was a former city council member for the city of Converse and still served on different commissions for the city until his death. He was a life time member and past post commander for the American Legion Post 593 in Converse, Texas. He was an avid New York Giants and Yankee fan. He enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and going to the movies. He was an honest man and quick to give you his opinion. He was a caring, loving, and generous person willing to help out those in need. Joseph was loved and had a positive impact on many people's lives. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and many others he touched throughout his life. Joseph is preceded in death by his Wife Mary Guastella, Father Lenny Zamillo, Mother Grace Zamiello, brother Gerald Guastella. Joseph is survived by his brother Anthony Guastella, Son's Joseph Jr. and Christoper Guastella, daughters Tracy Tsuchiyama and Sarah Guastella, Daughter in laws Natalie and Jen Guastella, Son in law Dino Tsuchiyama, Grandkids Joseph Guastella III, Ellis Guastella, Ronnie Tsuchiyama, Nathaniel Tsuchiyama, Mary Tsuchiyama, Rocco Guastella, Riley Guastella and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel at 9:00 am on Friday, November 10, 2017, with the Funeral service to begin at 1:00pm. Graveside service will follow at Fort Sam National Cemetery, 2:30pm. The family also invites you all to a celebration of his life following the funeral at the American Legion post 593 in Converse, Texas.
