Joseph Britan

June 22, 1943 — June 7, 2018

Col. (Ret) Joseph K Britan, 74, died June 7, 2018 at his home in Garden Ridge, TX. He is preceded in death by Harry and Lura Britan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Denise G Britan, his children Jeffrey (Donna) Britan, Laura (Jeff) Lang, his siblings Lorna (Jack) Arnot, Jeff, Gretchen, Barbara and Kevin Goodner, and his grandson Benjamin Lang.

Joseph K Britan was a graduate of the Air Force Academy Class of 1965. During his 26 years of active duty he served as Pilot, Flight Training Instructor, Commander of Air Operations Officer, Air Attache (India) and Academic Program Manager. He was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Marine and Air Force Presidential Unit Citations.

In retirement he was a professor of US Government and Political Science for ICOCC. He served as Councilman for the City of Garden Ridge from 2004-2014. He also served a year as President of the Garden Ridge Lions Club, and continued to be an integral active member.
