John Perry

John “Jack” P. Perry, born on July 19, 1932, in Brooklyn , NY, to John J. Perry and Annie Francis (Barron) Perry, passed away on August 7, 2020, in Converse, Texas, at the age of 88. Jack was the oldest of 4 children. He enjoyed photography and was never without a camera. Jack enjoyed listening to and collecting HAM radios. He had a love of classical music and books. On August 1, 1955, Jack married Olivia “Vique” Iruegas in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He served in the Army National Guard of New Jersey for 3 years before joining the United States Air Force in 1953. During his 21 years in the USAF, Jack was stationed in North Africa, Germany, Greenland, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, as well as Texas, California, Illinois, and Louisiana. Jack retired in 1974 with a rank of TSGT. After retiring from the USAF, Jack earned his college degree from the Southern Illinois University. He taught Automotive Maintenance for many years before retiring in the late 1990’s. Jack was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He received many certificates of merit, served as a faithful navigator, and was also a district deputy. Jack was instrumental in the building of Mikulski Hall on Schertz Parkway. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vique; parents, John and Annie Perry; and his brother, Bob Perry. Jack is survived by his son, John T. Perry and wife Peggy of Schertz; sister, Mary Anne Boudreaux and husband Olan of Houston; brother, Bill Perry, of Colorado; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 22,2020 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
