John Mcknight, Sr.

John (Randy) McKnight Sr passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in San Antonio, TX. He was born March 3, 1946, in Nashville, TN. Randy is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years Helen L. McKnight, mother Nanette M. Whitney, sister Deadra McKnight Hall, Marcia McKnight Helms, Andrea (Tim) Merriman, brothers Houston (Veronica) Whitney and Michael Whitney. He was preceded in death by father James E. Jones (Flora) and brother Jay Jones. He is also survived by brothers Jimmy (Janis) Cruthers, Gerald (Terri) Jones and Terry (Michelle) Jones and sister Grace Elaine (Willie) McClinton. Loving father to Sharon D. McKnight (Natasha & Tadara), John R. McKnight (John III, Mikaela, Adam, Sedrick, John IV, Antwoine, Alonzo, Alexis & Brenden), Eric & Amanda McKnight (Brittany, Briana, Eric Jr & Emily) and Shannon & Greg Wright (Isaiah, Trinity, Dominic & Jade) and a host of nieces, nephew and great-grandchildren.
Randy served over 21 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a TSGT. He began to work with Hertz as a bus driver and he was determined to work until the very end. He was an avid bowler. He could be found Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and some Saturdays at any bowling alley. He loved his family. He will be truly missed by so many.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Schertz Funeral Home. A private Graveside Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
