John Linebarger

John D. Linebarger, 80, loving husband and father passed away on Saturday 2 October 2010. John D. Linebarger was born on 17 May 1930 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Emery and Mabel Linebarger. He entered the USAF in 1948 reaching the rank of CMSgt. John retired from the USAF in 1972 and in 1973 he began a second career with the USAF as a civilian in MWR. He retired a second time in 1993. John was a person who deeply cared about others and was always ready to lend a hand. Whether friend or stranger, it made no difference, his life was filled with giving. From helping with meals for the elderly to serving on the planning and zoning commission in Schertz, Tx.; he gave with no expectation of return. To his friends and family, John's strength and kindness were legendary. If there was a problem to be solved, he was always there to listen and help. Pride, patriotism, loyalty and a quick smile were John's trademarks and his legacy. A great gentleman has passed on. He joins his wife Mary in eternal rest. He is already missed. John is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Linebarger; parents, Emery and Mabel Linebarger, and brothers, Leon and Carl Lee Linebarger. He is survived by his son, Dale Linebarger of Arlington, TX; daughter in law, Cheri and granddaughter, April; along with many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
