John Hezel
September 10, 1934 — July 19, 2009
John Donald Hezel, born September 10, 1934 passed from this life on July 19, 2009, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. John was born and raised in Creve Coeur, MO where he worked on the family farm until graduating from Chaminade College Preparatory. He earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from St. Louis University. While serving his country as a Marine, he met the love of his life, Joann Killoren and they married on June 6, 1959. They moved to San Antonio in 1969, where he started an Industrial/Organizational Psychological Consulting firm. He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren or when he was coaching his son Brads baseball team. A beloved husband, dad and grandpa, he was a truly honorable and selfless man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the legacy he created. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Joann, five children: Debbie Marbach & husband, Kenneth; Mary Martin & husband, Dale; Diane Kruse & husband, Jeff; Jim & wife, Kathy and Brad; fifteen grandchildren: Matthew, Josh, Zach, & Luke Marbach; Travis, Tyler and Kelsey Martin; Nikki & Chad Kruse; Sarah, Ally, Dane, James, Madeline & Mary Kathryn Hezel; sisters, Charlotte Hoch and Jane Kourik & husband, Russ; brothers, Charles Hezel & wife, Aloha and Victor Hezel. He was preceded in death by parents, John & Mary Hezel; granddaughter, Melissa Kruse; brother, Robert Hezel; sister in laws, Gladys Hezel & Agnes Hezel; brother in law, Armand Hoch. Very special thanks to his caretaker, Dee Taylor. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Selma on Sunday July 26, with a Rosary at 4:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Monday July 27 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
