John Crouse

May 5, 1946 — September 6, 2015

John Howard "Johnny" Crouse, returned to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the age of 69. Born in Williamsport, PA, John was a "military brat" who spent most of his life in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Mac Arthur High School in 1964, he joined the U.S. Air Force. John was stationed in Tucson, AZ, and then was a security police officer in Spain guarding B-52 bombers during Vietnam War. When he returned to San Antonio, John was a security guard at McDonough Brothers Quarry while he attended vocational school to become a heavy equipment operator. For several years John was a heavy equipment operator and kiln operator for Longhorn Cement. He met and married the love of his life, Dolores Gamez in 1974. After retiring from Longhorn, John worked for a variety of industrial corporations, finally retiring completely in 2011. He was a lifelong avid race car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling with Dolores. He was especially interested in Bible studies and Prophecy, and attended several Prophecy conferences in his later years. John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dolores; mother-in-law Andrea Gamez; sister Jacque Crouse Fidler; sister, Cathy Hoover of Pennsylvania; brother, Eugene Drum of Virginia;; brothers-in-law, Antero Gamez Jr., with wife Yolanda, Gerald Gamez and Donald Fidler Jr.; sister-in-law, Rosie Gamez; niece Annabel Fidler; nephew, Donald Fidler III; life-long friend and confidant, John Watts. John will be buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors during a private graveside service. The family request in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be made to Southwest Radio Church Ministries, P.O. Box 100, Bethany, OK 73008-9901.
