CAPT Joe (Jose) Tafolla Ret USAF, born on May 5, 1937, passed away on June 20, 2017 at the age of 80. Jose proudly served in the United States Air Force for 28 years. After his time in the United States Air Force, Jose worked as a School Administrator in Oklahoma for 7 years and then came to S.A.I.S.D as a School Administrator for 12 years. His grandchildren were his priority, making sure to be there to cheer them on at any activity they were involved in. Jose had a passion for Genealogy, tracing his ancestors back through many generations. He was a proud member of SARS (Sons of American Revolutionary Soldiers, William Hightower, Chapter #35, New Braunfels, TX). In his free time he enjoyed a round of Golf. Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Juan & Juanita Tafolla; sisters, Consuelo Pena, Melba Caunder and Juanita Tafolla; brothers, Manuel Tafolla, and Manuel Tafolla. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Leah Tafolla; children, Lori Tafolla, Mark Tafolla and wife Melina; grandchildren, Blaine, Savannah and Noah; sisters, Minerva Moreno, Alma Mireles, Yolanda Herrera, Lamar Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday , July 6, 2017 at 9:00AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00AM at Schertz United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations in memory of Joe (Jose) be made to Schertz United Methodist Church, 3460 Roy Richard Dr., Schertz, Texas 78154.
