Joe Hernandez

June 21, 1930 — July 25, 2013

Joe C. Hernandez, 83, was called to be with the Lord on July 25, 2013, in Converse, TX with his family by his side. Joe was a World War II veteran, retiring from the Air Force with over 20 years of service. Joe was past Master Mason of Nat. M. Washer No. 1270 Lodge, a member of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, 32nd degree, KCCH, member of VFW Post 76, American Legion Post 0593, and Veterans of Underage Military Service life member. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen D. Hernandez, son, Joe D. Hernandez, daughters Lynda M. Conner (Darryl), Cindy L. Bergman (Barry), grandchildren Jason Hernandez (Nikki), Alea Juull, Danielle Downing, Haley Bergman and great grandchildren Logan Hernandez and Kennedy Downing, brother Ernest Hernandez and sister Elida Garza. Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with a Rosary be recited at 7:00PM. Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:00AM, August 2, 2013 at St. Monicas Catholic Church, 501 North St., Converse, TX with interment following at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
