Joe Daniel

?Joe Rayford Daniel, born on April 4, 1940 to Lee and Ruth Daniel, in Sumrall, MS, passed away on September 3, 2018 at the age of 78.

Joe held a Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Music Education, and a Ph. D in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. His bands consistently received superior ratings at band contests, performed at the Music Educators National Conference (1978) and at Tulane University and New Orleans Saints football games in the Louisiana Superdome. After 32 years of successful teaching, Joe worked as a team leader and reader for the Psychological Corporation in San Antonio and for Quality Leadership as a consultant. Joe was a member of the San Antonio Mastersingers, the Heart of Texas Barbershop Chorus and the Heart of Texas Concert Band. Joe was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served as choir director (Centenary UMC), sang in the choir and played in the Handbell Choir. He enjoyed photography, golf and traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Joe was also a member of several fraternities including, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; Omicron Delta Kappa; Phi Beta Mu and the Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John Daniel, Vertis Daniel, Laroy Daniel and Mary Evelyn Daniel. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pamella Daniel; children, Robert (Kerry) Daniel, William (Stephanie) Daniel and Heather (Stephen) Darrah; grandchildren, Brennen Darrah, Sydney Darrah, Brett Daniel, Bennett Daniel, Meredith Daniel and EJ Daniel. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Holy Cross Cemetery at 9:00AM. A Memorial Service will follow at Universal City Methodist Church at 11:00AM .
