Joann Brannon
August 15, 1933 — February 1, 2010
JoAnn Brannon of Cibolo, TX, was granted her angel wings on February 1, 2010, at home with her family by her side. JoAnn was born on August 15, 1933 in Moody, TX to Mable and William Baker. JoAnn grew up on her grandfathers' cotton farm in Moody, then moved to Waco where she met and married her husband on September 13th, 1952. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and was also an avid volunteer in the Teen Club in Laredo, TX, Girl Scouts, Vice Chairman of the Cibolo Valley Republican Women's Club, and member of the Cibolo Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was awarded Honorable Mention in 1971 for Family Services Volunteer of the Year from the 3640th Pilot Training Squadron. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Brannon; daughters, Rebecca Colston and Virginia Barton, and son Kenny Brannon; son-in-laws Steve Colston and Davis Barton; daughters-in-law Kay Brannon and Cheryl Brannon; grandchildren Roxanne and Greg Williams, Brian and Stephanie Colston, Amanda and Ryan Silsbee, Cassandra and Daniel Kearns, Christine and Gerard Bowden, Jana and Justin Mire, Nathan and Andrea Stewart; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Douglas Brannon. Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home at 2217 Roy Richard Drive, Schertz, TX 78154 on Sunday, February 7, 2010, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 1:00 PM. The interment will follow at Fort Sam National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
