Joann Boshart
April 11, 1962 — October 22, 2015
After battling cancer for almost four years, Jodi Boshart peacefully passed away on October 22, 2015 surrounded by her family at her home in Schertz, TX at the age of 53. She leaves behind her husband Rick Boshart; her daughter and son in law Jana and Widmar Roman; her daughter and son in law Jamie and Matthew Riordan; and her son Ricky Boshart. Jodi was born in Lancaster, New Hampshire on April 11, 1962 to father Gerard Donohue and Mother Janice Maynard. She spent only a few years growing up in New Hampshire before she and her family moved to Cookstown, NJ. It is in New Jersey that she met and fell in love with her husband Rick. They met on the softball fields while she was keeping score and Rick was hitting grand slams for the Air Force team. Once they both realized there was a mutual attraction, they began dating and had been inseparable throughout 32 years of marriage. Another important man that entered her life in New Jersey is Max Maynard. Jodi gained an amazing dad when Max married her mother, Janice, in 1977. They shared quite a bond, built stronger every Sunday through daddy/daughter phone dates and she will forever be "his girl." Jodi's compassion and loving nature were two of her greatest qualities. Anyone that came into contact with her felt love for her instantly and that has become even more evident through the past few months of her earthly journey. Her strong faith in Jesus is what led her to love others the way that she did and even during her struggles, she would put everyone else first. Always a priority with her was her six grandchildren. They were the light of her life. Those who came into contact with her would inevitably hear about each of them. When she could no longer get on the floor and run and crawl around with them, she was giving them rides on her hospital bed. She will forever be etched into their memories. Because her love of kids didn't stop with her own family, Jodi spent most of her days working as a Teacher Aide at Randolph Elementary School. She went from the cafeteria, to Physical Education. From Kindergarten to Special Education and on to Art where she truly flourished. You couldn't go anywhere in the area without at least one student running up and giving "Mrs. Boshart" a giant hug. She poured her heart and soul into that school and invested so much time focusing on the students as a whole while teachers are often pushed to focus on grades. When she was forced to stop working physically, she still did whatever she could to help other teachers with their needs, showing the true meaning of having a heart for serving. When she wasn't working she was spending her time crocheting gifts, getting into trouble at the bingo hall or just spending quality time with her family. Time was always something we cherished and we will forever hold on to the many memories we have made. Jodi is survived by her dad Max Maynard, brother Mike Donohue (wife Brenda), sister Pat Caruthers, and her six grandchildren; Joshua, Jacob, Thomas, Grace, Tucker and Embyrlen as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father, Gerard Donohue and Mother, Janice Maynard as well as her brother Jeffrey Moran. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00am at St. John's Lutheran Church, 502 E. Nueva, San Antonio, TX 78205, followed by Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00pm.
