Joan Arndt

April 19, 1938 — February 13, 2014

Joan Irene Arndt, 75, a long-time resident of the Schertz area, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Joan was born on April 19, 1938 in Elyria, Ohio to Jesse and Emma Kauffman. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1956 and retired from Schertz Bank and Trust in May 2002. Joan loved to go camping and fishing in Rockport and also loved to read. Joan's greatest pride and joy, however, came from spending time with her grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her son, Dale Lee Arndt. She is survived by her loving husband of over 54 years, Norman; son Dave and his wife Christina of Florida; son Andy of San Antonio; and Dale's wife, Kathleen of Cibolo. Her grandchildren include Steven, Shannon and husband Dhrumil, David, Matthew, Ryan, Allyson, Jeremy, Stefan, Kayla and husband Jon. Joan was over joyed in anticipation of the arrival of her first great-grandchild (Baby Z) due in June 2014. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 9:00PM., Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Schertz Funeral Home with a Memorial Service tol start at 7:00PM in the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of the Greater Randolph Area.
