Jimmie Lee Huckins, born on Sept. 25, 1921, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at the age of 96.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, Werner and Lois Schroder; and grandson, Jesse Hofflinger.
She is survived by her son, Richard W. Huckins and wife, Debbie; grandsons, Brydon Huckins, Chris Hofflinger, Clay Huckins and Derek Huckins; great-granddaughters, Haylee Hofflinger and Monroe Huckins.
After a 24-year career in Houston, Jimmie retired from Tenneco Inc. in 1977. She then moved to Ingram, Texas, where she built her home and lived for 30 happy years. She enjoyed entertaining friends in her home and loved having her grandsons on holidays and long summer visits.
During this time she helped organize Guadalupe Riverbank Improvement & Protection Association (GRIP). Under her direction as executive secretary, GRIP developed Tranquility Island in Louise Hays Park. An avid reader and artist, she was active in the Hill Country Arts Foundation and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
She spent her remaining years at The Laurels in San Antonio.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at The Laurels, 575 Knights Cross, San Antonio, TX, 78258.
