Jessie Shehorn

Jessie Mae Guffey Shehorn died Sunday, October 20, 2013 after a brief illness. A devoted mother and teacher, Jessie was born to Fon V. and Ora Ella Guffey in Alton, Missouri, on September 21, 1940. She attended Alton Public Schools and graduated Salutatorian of the 1958 graduating class. She served in many offices of the local and district FHA, Pep Club, and Student Council. She was also involved in cheerleading and volleyball, and served as senior editor of the school newspaper. She has two children; Lori Fuller and Keri Shehorn. While raising her daughters, she volunteered at school and church functions. Gladly teaching, cooking, baking, decorating and sewing whenever the need arose. Jessie worked in the Schertz Cibolo Independent School District for 30 years. She was devoted to helping students achieve their GED certificates and students with special needs. In retirement she continued to enjoy cooking and gardening. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters: Lori and husband Bennett Fuller, of Oklahoma City, OK; and Keri Shehorn, of New Braunfel's, TX; two granddaughters: Hayden and Marni Fuller, of Oklahoma City, OK; her brother, Wayne Guffey of Mammoth Spring, AR; her sister, Betty Simpson of Houston, MO; many nieces and nephews; and her mostly companion, a sweet puppy named "Chili Dawg." A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 2:00p.m. at the Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX. All services will conclude at Schertz Funeral Home.
