Jesse Carrasco went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2020 at the age of 73. Jesse spent her final days at home surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren.
Jesse was born on July 1, 1947 in El Paso, TX to Pablo and Juanita Hernandez. She met her husband, Carlos, while working at the State Theater during high school and they were married on December 24, 1966.
Jesse lived by the motto, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to and did so at an early age by excelling in school and in all that she did. Jesse worked as an Office Manager and the Crime Victim Coordinator with the El Paso District Attorney. She also worked 23 years with G-tech as a District Manager in El Paso, then San Antonio, and retired January 2015 from the Houston office. She truly enjoyed her career and over the years developed many cherished friendships.
Jesse was involved in politics for many years. She was elected 5 times to serve as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions. She was elected to the Texas Democratic Party Executive Committee, where she served as a member for 10 years. She served as the Executive Director for the El Paso Democratic Party. She was appointed to the Texas State Commission for Women by governor Mark White and appointed as a public member to the Texas State Bar Association by governor Ann Richards.
Jesse is survived by: her husband, Carlos Carrasco; her children, Synthia (Damon) Zeller, Celeste Carrasco (Reuben Ontiveros), Christopher (Laura) Carrasco, Stephanie (Donald) Diaz; 10 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and a brother.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 9:45AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with interment following at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
