Jeannine Swiger

Jeannine Irene Swiger , 87, of Schertz , TX, was called home to Jesus on February 25, 2018. She entered this world on July 20, 1930 in Sandusky, OH, born to Walter Francis Vettel and Josie Dubois Vettel .
She was preceded in death by her husband David Walter Swiger . She is survived by her son David Dennis Swiger and his wife Rhonda of Schertz ; two grandsons Brett C. Swiger (Jessica) and Craig J. Swiger (Megan) and five great grandchildren, Kate, Lee, Lucy, Micah, and Christian.
Jeannine was a US Army wife and she served in the US Army Civil Service as a supervisor in personnel for 30 years. Her passions included sewing, crocheting, traveling exploring the US in her RV, volunteering as an Ambassador at the San Antonio Airport, local hospitals and driving her friends around San Antonio. She also traveled to England, Alaska, China and Israel. She loved Texas, living in D' Hanis , San Antonio and later with the loving staff at Silver Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she always felt at home. Everyone loved and adored her spunky, feisty and determined attitude.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Silver Tree and Embrace Hospice for their love and care for Jeannine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 10:00 AM at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
The family requests contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
