Jean Avonne Brogdon Manning, born January 14, 1964, in San Antonio, TX, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2023, in Kirby, Texas, at the age of 59. Jean is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Jeanette Brogdon. Jean is survived by her husband, Jon Kevin Manning, son, Carson Manning, brother John (Denise) and nephew Kaleb Brogdon, stepson Jonathan (Carissa) Manning, and stepdaughter Megan (Kyle) Brewer; grandchildren Bryden, Corbyn, and Teagan Manning, Maverick Stacy, and her beloved dog, Linus.
Jean dedicated her life to her family, friends, and helping children. After more than 25 years, Jean retired from the Texas Department of Child Protective Services. Jean’s passion was always teaching, and after she retired, she returned to the classroom where she continued to touch the lives of children. Jean was a cherished Sunday School Teacher and volunteered countless hours with local 4H Groups. Her passion for teaching and volunteering allowed her to touch so many lives.
Jean was an avid Judson Rocket fan and was often found in the stands supporting one of her many cousins’ involvement in sports, 4H, or FFA. She also loved dancing, history and politics, cooking, antiques, traveling, and supporting Carson fully in all his activities and interests.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for all the love and support that has been showered upon them over the past 7 months as Jean battled an unknown illness, and especially recognize Jean’s caregiver, Olene Hunt, for not only caring for Jean but for also showing her true compassion and friendship.
