Janet Mccarley

Janet Elaine (Winters) McCarley went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2014. Janet was born in San Antonio, TX on May 6, 1938 to Arthur Allen Winters and Mildred Elizabeth Hooley. Janet's father died when she was four, but she was fortunate to have both sets of grandparents who were a very important part of her life. Janet graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1956. It was in high school that she met the love of her life Garland McCarley. They married on September 29, 1956 and enjoyed a loving marriage of 58 years. Janet and Garland enjoyed living on Lake Placid in Seguin, TX for over 20 years. They lost their home in the flood of 1998, but rebuilt and enjoyed another 10 years of great times with family and friends. Their granddaughters grew up there. Janet worked for Liberty Mutual for over 25 years when she became permanently disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She was active in her church and sang in the choir for over 30 years. Janet was blessed with many wonderful lifelong friends. She always said friends were a true treasure. Janet and Garland were able to do some traveling and enjoy life together. The Lord and her family were the most important things in her life. Her three children were her pride and joy and her six granddaughters who she was very close to. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Janet was predeceased by her husband's parents and grandparents. She is survived by her husband Garland McCarley, her three children: Darrell McCarley, Cindy Barnhart (and her friend Rod Karch), and Russell McCarley (and wife Karen); Grandchildren: Amy Perez, Ashley Barnhart, Aubrey Barnhart and Jake Northam, twins: Amber and Brittany McCarley, and Rachel McCarley; great grandchild: Braxton Liam Northam; special honorary grandchild: Shelby Fisher; brother Allen Winters, six nieces, three nephews, two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and several cousins. The family would ask in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to their favorite charity. If flowers are preferred, please provide potted plants. A special thank you to family and friends for their prayers and comfort, the choir of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for their love and support and the beautiful music to be provided at the services. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with rosary being recited at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM.on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, Texas
