Janet Faye Mayen of Cibolo, TX passed away at home on May 16, 2022 at the age of 68. Janet was born on February 15, 1954 to parents Alfred Marbach and Wanda Bailey Marbach in San Antonio, Texas.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Richard Mayen; sisters Deborah Gawlik (Ken) and Linda Harless (Travis); daughters Donia Rodriguez and Brandi Powers (Cliff); grandchildren Sheldon and Josh Oestrich and Olivia and Levi Powers; and her beloved dog Scooby. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Wanda Marbach.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She attended McCollum High School and graduated from South San High School in 1972. Janet furthered her education at San Antonio College. She later worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor at the Patrician Movement where she met her husband, Richard. The two worked as partners and fell in love. They married on October 10, 1987, dancing the night away to Rolling Stone's "Wild Horses". In 2002, Janet and Richard together began their legal support business, which is still successful to this day.
Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, crafting beautiful wreaths, listening to music, visiting bed and breakfasts, and had a knack for bargain hunting. She especially loved watching her granddaughter Olivia's dance recitals. Janet made everyone feel welcome; always thinking of others and incredibly generous. She was passionate about music, particularly 70s and 80s hits. Her sense of humor and enthusiastic personality was uplifting to all who knew her. She was great at making people laugh.
Most of all, Janet loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ very much. She had previously served in the youth ministry at Alamo City Chirstian Fellowship. Janet was a volunteer for displaced refugees of Hurricane Katrina and also involved in the church homeless and street outreach ministries. She was always praying for others and eager to share the Gospel to anyone. If she said she would be praying for you, there was no doubt that she was. Janet will be greatly missed.
