Jane Hernandez

June 24, 1934 — January 31, 2013

Jane Anchondo Hernandez, 78, went to be with our Lord on 31 January 2013, in Schertz, Texas. She was born in El Paso, Texas, the eldest daughter of Vicenta and Ceferino Anchondo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Samuel Anchondo. Her siblings also include 3 brothers " Ceferino Jr, Daniel, and Robert Anchondo and 1 sister " Alicia Siqueiros Chavez from El Paso, Texas who will miss her presence. She attended Jefferson High School and graduated Valedictorian, Class of 1953. She also attended Texas Western College, now known as the University of Texas in El Paso, before marrying Maximino Hernandez (Retired-USAF) in Fairbanks, Alaska. They traveled throughout Europe and the US with their four daughters. In years past, she worked at Gulf Insurance Company and Redlands Elementary School (NEISD) in San Antonio, Texas. Jane and Max were active members of various ballroom, square and round dance clubs. She participated in adoration for over 20 years at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Even though she struggled with kidney and renal cell carcinoma cancer since 1995, she lived life to the fullest enjoying the things she loved to do: dancing, singing, traveling, visiting, writing letters, sending care packages, sewing, reading, and seeing grandchildrens soccer and football games. She was the pillar of our family. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Maximino Hernandez, 4 daughters, Cynthia Lee and son-in-law, Ronnie Lee; Annette Hernandez; Amanda Lee and son-in-law, Terry Lee; and Erika McCarthy and son-in-law, Michael McCarthy. She spread joy to her 11 grandchildren, Serena Holster (husband Kile Holster), Vanessa Kluz (husband-Zach Kluz), Katrina Lee, Captain- USA Daniel Saenz, Seaman Matthew Saenz, Captain-USAF Nicholas Lee (wife-Latoyia Lee), Terry Lee, Jr. (wife-Valerie Lee), Justin Lee, Kristina McCarthy, Ethan McCarthy and Xavier McCarthy and graced the life of 5 great grandchildren, Levi Holster, Dominic Lee, Elaina Lee, Troy Lee, and Joseph Kluz. Her faith, love and encouragement will never be forgotten by her devoted family members and long-time friends throughout the world. Special thanks go to the doctors, nurses, and medical caregivers of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (UT Health Science Center San Antonio), The San Antonio Military Medical Center (Emergency Room and 3E Wing), and VITAS where she received professional service, unwavering support, and the highest quality of care and compassion. The family will receive friends on February 11, 2013 at Schertz Funeral Home from 6:00 " 8:00pm. The Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on February 12, 2013 at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
