James “Jim” Murray Wiggins passed away on June 17, 2023 at the age of 78, in Schertz, Texas surrounded by close family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Jim came out a hero and stayed strong until the very end.
He was born to James and Constance Wiggins on September 27, 1944. He served in the US Airforce then with the US Department of Defense as the Housing Manager where his love in helping the military community afforded him the opportunity to travel around the world. Jim had a very caring, courageous, and adventurous heart. He loved traveling, golfing, fishing, and his beloved Oklahoma Sooners football team.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jim. He loved to talk to people, be surrounded with friends, his TV, a cigar with a glass of rum and coke in hand. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His amiable, social, and good-natured personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Jim is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joni; daughter, Connie Wiggins Schertz, TX; son, Ronnie Wiggins (Kristine) Longview, TX; daughter, Julie Edwards (Chad) Deville, LA. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tamela Duplantis (d. 2022); and 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 dogs (Tako and Peanut), and an abundance of cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of close friends.
There will be a celebration of Jim’s life by family and close friends on July 1st.
